Having just moved our brewery to the historic Brook Mill in Macclesfield, we are now opening an onsite Taproom to service the local community and beer enthusiasts far and wide. We are looking for a General Manager who knows about beer, is enthusiastic about the industry and can represent the brewery in the running of the Taproom and events including brewery tours.
Macclesfield is a prosperous market town, only 20 minutes from Manchester, at the foot of the Peak District hills.
We are a local brewery with five existing pubs and bars in Bollington, Macclesfield, Congleton and Poynton.
With an onsite brewery, kitchen and bar, we will be serving our own cask and keg beers, as well as exciting beers from independent breweries all over the country.
We already have significant experience of running quality community pubs and bars, and we brew our own high quality beer.
The perfect General Manager will:
- Be a confident decision maker focused on providing a fun, welcoming and community led environment
- Passionate about excellent customer service, food and drink, you will be no stranger to a busy hospitality environment, while being enthusiastic and motivated
- You will be a team player who is a fast learner, adaptable and have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Have experience of building and managing a team
- Have a big personality: enthusiastic and a fun-loving character
- Have a hands-on, ‘can do’ attitude
- Have a genuine passion for beer but also have experience of what is needed to create a relaxed coffee venue during the day.
- Be innovative with an entrepreneurial spirit, able to see the bags of potential in this little gem
- Be fully responsible for the smooth running of the cafe bar, staff management and training, along with ordering and stock control
- Have a commitment to the brand and values of the Bollington Brewing Company.
What you must have:
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a General Manager position in a similar environment is essential (key holder, maintaining stock levels, cleaning/running beer lines, rota management, staff training, deliveries, cashing up, security systems)
- Experience in running a wet led or cafe environment with a strong emphasis on food sales and events
- Be passionate and knowledgeable about beer and the beer industry
- Strong financial understanding (excellent knowledge of P&L)
- Ability to develop team members to maximise their potential
- Experience of being a team leader – our ideal candidate will be dedicated and leading from the front to push the business forward
- Experienced and confident with posting and maintaining public-facing social media accounts
- Right to work in the UK
- Able to provide two satisfactory references
